JD "Jay" Norris, 89 of Philpot, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at his home. He was born April 11, 1924 in Ohio County to the late Emmett and Zelpha (Jones) Norris. He was a Christian and a member of the Southside church of Christ. Jay served in the European Theatre in WWII. He received a degree in accounting from Butler University in Indianapolis and retired from Schrecker Supply Company. He was preceded in death by his grandparents who raised him, Ira Eugene "Pap" and Frances Lovane "Mam" Norris and his first wife of 43 years, Jewell Evans Norris in 1990.
He is survived by his wife of twenty two years, Patricia "Pat" Payne Smiddy-Norris, two step-sons, Darrin Eugene Smiddy of Philpot, and MSgt. Jonathan Dwayne Smiddy and wife Melissa of Tucson, AZ.
Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and after 10 a.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be Saturday at 12 p.m. with Jarrod Jacobs officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Western Kentucky Memorial Fund and online condolences may be left at www.glennfuneralhome.c
