Jay E. Claypool, 63, of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Warren, Ohio to Kester C. and Arlene Webb Claypool.
Jay was thought to be the best aerial photographer in the tri-state. (Something very few photographers would do.) He worked for perfection when it came to photography. Jay also played the keyboard and horn in three different bands, Ticket, The Nomads and Lumpy Gravy. He regularly played the keyboard with one hand and the trumpet with the other. His favorite keyboard was a Vox Super Continental. Jay loved his cat, Molly, and 1967 Super Sport Camaro with a 375 horsepower, 396 C.I. engine and 4 speed tranny. He would often brag about beating a lot of cars with his Camaro.
Jay was a very loyal friend and his death greatly devastated his little brother, Chris. He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kester C. Claypool.
Jay is survived by his mother, Arlene Claypool; a son, Jason J. Claypool, Sr. (Lenora); grandchildren, Christina Sue Claypool and Jason Jeremy Claypool, Jr.; and brothers, Terry and Christopher Claypool.
A memorial service will be held at 1 PM Friday, November 13 at Thruston United Methodist Church. Private burial will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to Thruston United Methodist Church 5551 KY-405, Owensboro, KY 42303.
