Jason Hoyt Phillips

Jason Hoyt Phillips, 43, of Owensboro, passed away July 13, 2024, at Owensboro Health Reginal Hospital. Jason was born to Joe and Janet Phillips in Owensboro on September 8, 1980. He graduated from Apollo High School and served as vice president of the FFA, demonstrating that farming was not just a job but a way of life. Jason began working on a dairy farm at 13, where he developed a strong work ethic that carried him through various jobs. He first worked for Clark Distributing Company, delivering beer, and later moved into the soda business. If you ever opened a Pepsi, Coke, or RC Cola in Owensboro, chances are Jason played a part in delivering it. After his soda delivery days, he joined Ryder in Owensboro, continuing his perfect match with trucks.

Jason's family was his pride and joy. He was the dad who tried never to miss a game, cheer competition, or t-ball match. If he couldn't be there, he expected a full photo report. He played basketball with his sons and was the grill master at family cookouts. His love for his wife, Rachel, spanned two decades, with 17 years of marriage filled with adventure and love.

An outdoorsman at heart, Jason loved hunting and fishing and always looked forward to the annual hunting trips with the guys. His man cave was his fortress, where laughter and friendship reigned supreme. Known as the ultimate jokester, Jason never met a stranger and turned every encounter into a friendship. His humor was as refreshing as the ice-cold Busch Light he enjoyed with every activity.

Jason was a man who worked hard, loved deeply, and lived life with a twinkle in his eye and a joke on his lips. He was a man of the land, a family man, a friend to all, and the best partner Rachel could ever have.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Hoyt and Katherine Phillips and Gene and Dorothy Hayden; uncle, Jerry Phillips; aunt, Linda Phillips; and stepfather Doug Coleman.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Rachel Travis Phillips; children, Chloe Wood, Kaleb Phillips (Maddie), and Justin Phillips; parents, Joe Phillips (Marilyn) and Janet Hayden Coleman; sister, Jessica Phillips Haynes (Chris); mother and father in-law, Marla and Scott Christian; brother in-laws, Timmy Travis (Jackie) and James Travis; best friend, Craig Millay; and several loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The funeral for Jason Phillips will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 9 am until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
