Jason Boyd

Jason Boyd, 80, of Owensboro, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born December 16, 1944 in Corinth, Mississippi to the late George and Everlena Neal Boyd. Jason was retired from the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier and was a member of the Church of The Living God, J.D. of Owensboro. He was a U. S. Marine veteran of the Viet Nam War. Jason had received numerous Medals and Decorations including a marksmanship Badge for the M-14 rifle, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal with one star, Vietnamese Campaign Medal with device, two Purple Hearts with one star and one with two, Presidential Unit Citation, and the Good Conduct Medal. Jason enjoyed fishing, playing his guitar at church where he was chairman of the deacons, and riding his Suzuki Bandit motorcycle. He was an awesome husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Jason loved his family in Dayton, Ohio and Owensboro very much and was a great conversationalist.

Jason was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cassandra “Cookie” Barnes and four siblings, Magdalena Boyd Dumas, Loretta Boyd, Willie George Boyd, and R. T. Boyd.

Surviving are his wife Mary Taylor “Poochie” Boyd; three children, Jason Lewis II (Andrea), Jackie Decembly-Dorsey (Steven), and Sonya Decembly, all of Dayton, Ohio; three stepchildren, Karen Crowe of Atlanta, Leslie Crowe III (Amy) of Georgetown, and Nathan Crowe of Lexington; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; a sister and brother, Betsy Campbell and Apollos Boyd, both of Dayton.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday, August 30 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Visitation will be from Noon until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to A.L.S. (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Messages and condolences to the family can be shared at www.glenncares.com.
