Janis R. Smith

Janis R. Smith, 50, of 5739 Jack Hinton Rd., Philpot, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2008 at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late Charles and Nora Sumner Wigginton. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and also enjoyed writing poetry, shopping for antiques, and going for drives and sightseeing.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Jerry Smith, a son, Joshua Smith of Owensboro, two daughters, Catherine Dowdy and husband Rickey of Philpot and Andrea Nease and husband Dan of Billings, Montana, four grandchildren, Dustin, Devin, and Dayton Dowdy, and Sebastian Clements, a sister, Connie Craig and husband George of Owensboro, and a brother, Charles "Woody" Wigginton of Owensboro.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 9, at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
