Janis Elizabeth Brown

Janis Elizabeth Brown, 76, of Owensboro, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born May 26, 1949 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Paul C. and Lucille Carter Cross. Janis had worked at WalMart and loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, her daily cups of coffee, and watching Hallmark movies. Janis was also preceded in death by her husband, James Brown in 2013 and a brother, Steven Cross.

Surviving are two daughters, Jennifer West (Josh) and Jessica Sacra (Andrew), all of Owensboro; six grandchildren, Haley, Maddie, and Nolan West, Jordyn Cauley, and Skylar and Ryan Sacra; and two brothers, Paul Cross of Owensboro and Jay Cross of Elizabethton, Tennessee.

There will be visitation from 4 PM until 7 PM Wednesday, May 6 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be later in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
