Janice Lou Eaton Manaway, 82, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday July 29, 2026, at her home under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. She was born August 13, 1943, in Owensboro to the late Ben W. and Shirley Taylor Eaton. Janice married Jerry Manaway on March 19, 1959.
Janice lived her life giving to others. Her charitable heart led her to give to the ACLU, St. Jude’s, Wounded Warrior Project, and many others. That same caring heart was why she became a nurse, working in the Owensboro community for many years before her retirement. Janice was a caregiver to many family members, and to anyone else that was in need. She spent most of her later years enjoying grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Janice and Jerry took many family trips to Florida during their lives. After retirement they often enjoyed their cabin and camp on the Rough River. Around home Janice worked in her flower gardens, which she loved dearly.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Melanie Kay McGrew; and siblings Benita Brown, Sandra Watkins, Rita Nickens, and Carolyn Pierce.
Janice is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jerry Manaway; her grandson Sean Wilson; granddaughter Cassie Horvath; granddaughter in-law Heavyn Wilson; great-grandchildren, Vaughn Wilson, Maisyn Wilson, Graham Horvath, and Lauren Janice “L.J.” Horvath; brothers, Wendall Eaton, and Tom Eaton; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Janice will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 5 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Daniel Eaton officiating. Committal service to follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens at Christ Chapel. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 12 pm to 1:30 p.m.
Care by Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
