Janice Goodman

Janice Goodman, 85, of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Cedarhurst Senior Living of Owensboro. She was born July 19, 1941, in Daviess County, to the late M.C. Shelton and Marie Shelton Holden. She was a member of the Yellow Creek Baptist Church. Janice loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent more than 20 years as a hair stylist after graduating from cosmetology school. She married Johnny D. Goodman, Jr. on April 11, 1985, and he passed in 2023. Janice and Johnny were avid motor home lovers, travelling regularly to Florida as often as life would allow.

Along with her parents and husband, Janice was preceded in death by her brother Ronnie Shelton and his wife Patsy.

Survivors include her son, John Ford (Suzanne); daughter, Debbie Gaddis (Cary); step-son, John D. Goodman III (Tonia); Grandchildren, Cara Merritt, Alexandra Ford, Michael Gaddis, Nicholas Goodman (Lara Lynn), and Jared Goodman (Layne); Great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Merritt, Presley Merritt, Scarlett Goodman, Walker Goodman, and Della Rose Goodman; brothers, Eddie Shelton (Greta), and Steve Shelton (Lisa); and several nieces and nephews.

Private family visitation will be held on Friday, August 14 from 12 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, and a public visitation from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Owensboro Memorial Gardens, Christ Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Owensboro Memorial Gardens, Christ Chapel with Dr. James Wedding officiating. Entombment to follow.
