Janet M. Towery

Janet "Jan" M. Towery, 66 of Owensboro, died December 20, 2013 at the Heartford House. She was born June 24, 1947 in Boise, ID., to the late James Joseph and Juanita Mildred Hopkins Pyne. She was the most loving wife, devoted and amazing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Janet retired with 24 years of service with Surgical Group of Owensboro and Ohio Valley Surgical Group with 10 years of service. She was a member of Buck Creek Baptist Church. Janet enjoyed her friends, playing Batman and Robin, building Lego's, and watching "Walker Texas Ranger" with her grandchildren, reading, ceramics, cross stitch, drawing, painting and other creative challenges, and was very passionate about the Christmas season, especially with decorating her ceramic Christmas villages. She especially loved playing with her grandchildren and great grandson whom she loved dearly and working with her husband in their private catering service. She also was preceded in death by her brothers, Melvin Lee and Dustin Eugene Pyne, a sister in-law, Becky J. Hudson McCaslin, and a nephew, Andrew F. Young.

Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Ronnie D. Towery; daughter, Robin M. (Jeffery) Austin; grandchildren, Kevin D. and Dustin N. Austin; great grandson, Kameron M. Austin; mother and father in-law, "Mimi" Mary Ruth Jewell and Victor C. Hudson; sisters and brothers in-law, Ed and Judy Hudson McCrackin and Charles (Chuck) McCaslin, all of Owensboro; Dr. David and Debbie Hudson Shelton of New Port Richey, FL, Alex and Vicki Hudson Simms of Princeton, KY; aunts, Peggy Pyne Nelson of Redmond, OR., Gladys Pyne of McMinnville, OR., and Colleen Pyne of Redlands, CA; uncle, John Pyne of Centralia, WA; sister-in-law, Jean Pyne of Brookings, OR., several loving nieces and nephews including, Stephanie (Scott) Lippert and children, Olivia and Gabrielle of Medford, OR., and Angelique (Chris) Reel and children, Monet and Savannah of Eugene, OR; cousin, Lillian Silva of Chemult, OR; and long-time friends, Connie Love of OR., Tommy (Marilyn) Hawkins, Robbie Shanks and Steve Owen.

Services will be at 2 PM on Friday, December 27, 2013 at Glenn Funeral Home & Crematory with Brother Tommy Webb officiating. Entombment will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 PM on Thursday, December 26, 2013 and after 9 AM on Friday.
