Janet Marie Schartung

Janet Marie Schartung, 66, of Owensboro, died Thursday, March 11, 2010, as a result of a accidental drowning. She was born July 24, 1943 to the late Paul and Mary Howard Bowlds in Blue Island, IL. She was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church, and a homemaker. She enjoyed fishing and traveling with her late husband, Bill, and watching her grandchildren play sports and going shopping with them. She enjoyed her dog, Princess Snuggles, playing the slots at the casino, NASCAR (Tony Stewart), UK basketball, gardening and spending time with The Timeless Twelve (AKA: The Dirty Dozen). Janet lived life for her family, and lived it to the fullest.

She was preceded in death by her husband and best friend, Bill Schartung, on May 8, 2007.

Survivors include her children; Kevin (Sandra) Medcalf of Whitesville, Stacy Holcomb and her fianc', (Delmon Jones) of Owensboro, and Angela (Scott) Taylor of Owensboro; six grandchildren, Kelly and Tara Medcalf, Kody and KayLynn Holcomb, Kelsey and Katie Taylor; her brother, Sherman (Helen) Bowlds of Nashville, TN, her sisters, Jean Seib (late husband, Fred) of Richland, IN, and Pauline (Rudy) Reeder of Owensboro.

Services will be 12:00 PM Tuesday, at Blessed Mother Catholic Church, with burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, with prayers at 6:00 PM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation Tuesday will be after 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
