Jane Philpott Newton

Jane Philpott Newton, 92, of Owensboro, passed away on December 30, 2012 at her son's home where she had resided for eight years.
She was born in Irvington, KY to the late Lewis J. and Annie (Hubbard) Meador.

Jane retired after 38 years as a Civil Service Employee at Ft. Knox. She had also helped her first husband (Mr. Philpott) operate a grocery store for several years. Jane was an active member of Ekron Baptist Church and a member of the Daughters of American Revolution. She had a passion for genealogy and even had two books printed on the subject. She was also politically active and served as a poll worker for 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Morgan Larue Philpott in 1963, a second husband, Richard Alton Newton in 1992 and a brother, C.L. Meador.

Mrs. Newton is survived by a son , Harold Philpott (Linda) of Owensboro; two grandsons, Dwight Steven Philpott(Anne) and Kevin Lewis Philpott, both of Owensboro; great grandchildren, Ashley, Sierra, Austin and Grayson Philpott; great great grandchildren, Kamryn and Jadyn Philpott; a brother, James E. Meador (Geniveve) of Brandenburg, KY; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be held at Noon on Wednesday, January 2 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. Mike Brown will officiate. Burial will be at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Meade County, KY. Visitation will be on Wednesday after 10 AM at the funeral home.
