Jane Tichenor Libs, 87, of 725 Scherm Rd, died Monday, August 29, 2005 at her home. She was born August 11, 1918 to the late Edna Powers Tichenor and William Tichenor. Mrs. Libs was baptized at the age of 10 at Yellow Creek Baptist Church where she remained a member all her life. A graduate of Daviess County High School, she retired from purchasing at Mullen and Haynes Company in 1981 after 38 years of service. Mrs. Libs was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, Francis M. Libs, and his first wife and her sister, Beulah Libs; two brothers, Harlan Tichenor and Ernest Tichenor. Mrs. Libs was the matriarch of the family. She was loved and respected for keeping family traditions and connections in place.
She is survived by her husbands children, Liz ( John) Froehlich, Mike ( Betty) Libs, Pat ( David) Jones, Becky Everly, and Francis Libs all of Owensboro, and Phil ( Karyl Lu) Libs of Versailles. Other survivors include a nephew Bill ( Jean) Tichenor of Shelbyville; nieces Linda ( Jerry) Harris, Frances Tichenor, and Lynn Tichenor, brother-in-law, Bill Libs (Wanda), and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Tichenor, all of Owensboro. Grandchildren are John Froehlich IV, Mary Beth Froehlich, Melissa Granger, Jeff Libs, Todd Libs, Jaime Hazelwood, Jason Jones, Michael Jones, Mitchell Jones, Meghan Halcomb, Janet Fox, Jenny Munster, Shawn Libs, Kelly Howard, Matt Libs, and Adam Libs.
Mrs. Libs will return to Yellow Creek Baptist Church on Thursday, September 1, 2005 at 1 P.M. for funeral services conducted by her pastor, Dr. James Wedding and Rev. Bob Fox, pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Georgetown. Mrs. Libs has chosen as pallbearers Mac Griffin, Melvin Pagan, George Stuart, Ron Whittaker, John Williams, and Tom Witherspoon.
Visitation is 2-8 P.M. Wednesday, August 31, 2005 and after 10 A.M. Thursday, September 1, 2005 at Glenn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice or the Homebound Ministry of Yellow Creek Baptist Church, which served as Mrs. Libs spiritual link to her church during her last years.
