Jane Cline Brashear, 92, of Owensboro, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024, with her youngest daughter and caregiver, Eva, and family friend, Kathy Halley, by her side, at the Heartford House while under the care of Hospice and Palliative care of Western Kentucky. She was born May 20, 1931, in Statesville, NC, to the late Arthur Homer Cline and Margaret L. Polk Cline. Jane grew up in Paducah, was a graduate of Paducah Tillman High School, and was a retired operator for Bellsouth Telephone Company. She was of the Methodist faith and a member of St. John’s Methodist Church where she was active in the Covenant Sunday School Class.
Jane was a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, the C.W.A. Union, AARP member, and bowled in many bowling leagues, including the Early Birds, Senior Citizens Group, and New Generation Group. Jane was a Paducah Duchess, Kentucky Colonel, and a great niece of the 11th U.S. President, James K. Polk.
Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her former husband and friend, Douglas Brashear; and her sisters, Mary Lee Cain, Edith Cline Holland, Helen Cline Smith, and Elizabeth Cline Lumsden.
Jane is survived by her daughters, Margaret Louise Wilburn, and her daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Wilburn-Clark, and Eva Lee Brashear, and her son, Benjamin Knight Martin; great-grandson, Brandon Knight Martin; great-granddaughters, Luca Isabel Clark and Marlo Clark; nieces, Khadra Jane Cain Turley and Sarah Cain Lamance; also, several great nieces.
The funeral service for Jane will be held at noon Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Chris Toney officiating. Burial to follow in Mount Kenton Cemetery in Paducah, KY. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital and the Daviess County Humane Society.
