Jan Carol Bartlett, 73, of 3362 Buckland Square, Owensboro, and formerly of San Pedro, CA, died Friday, May 13, 2005 at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Louisville, a son of the late Thomas J. and Dorothy OBryan Bartlett, he grew up in Owensboro and was a graduate of Daviess County High School and the University of Kentucky, where he also received his masters degree. He worked for General Electric in the late 1950s where he was part of the team developing original computer code, and was later a partner in a computer-consulting firm in Scottsdale, AZ. After retiring in 2002 from a civilian contractor at Edwards Air Force Base in California where he was involved in the development of missile guidance systems, he returned to Owensboro in 2004. He enjoyed reading, photography, art, sailing, shooting, gun collecting and fishing.
Survivors include his daughter, Lisa Anne Bartlett of Mission Viejo, CA, his brother, Jeff Bartlett of Owensboro, his sister, Mary Bartlett Broecker of La Grange, and several nieces and nephews.
Services are at 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 16 at Glenn Funeral Home, where visitation will be after 9:00 a.m. Monday. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
