James D. Winfield

James D. Donnie Winfield, 58, of 9349 Kentucky Highway 144, Philpot, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 24, 2004, at his home. A native of Daviess County, KY, he was a son of the late James Thomas and Mary Blanche McIntyre Winfield. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he was an active member of Good Shepherd Church, and enjoyed the time he spent gardening and traveling with his family. He spent 33 years with Commonwealth Aluminum and was a member of United Steelworkers of America.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Kaye Calhoun Winfield, his son Christopher James Winfield and his wife Carla of Curdsville, his daughters Valerie O'Bryan and her husband Chris of Hawesville, Melissa Staggs-Laughrey and her husband Trent of Lowell, IN, Jeannie Mattingly and her husband Richard and Sarah Winfield, both of Philpot, his grandchildren, Whitney and Rebekah OBryan, of Hawesville, and Will Staggs-Laughrey of Lowell, IN, his brothers, Wayne Winfield and Marty Winfield, both of Owensboro, Gary Winfield of Beech Grove and Jeff Winfield of Lexington, and his sisters, Patty Simpson of Delaware, KY, Carolyn Payne of Curdsville, and Diane Galloway of Beech Grove.

Services are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Good Shepherd Church. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at Glenn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Good Shepherd Church or Hospice and Palliative Care of the Ohio Valley.
