James Larry Wethington

James Larry Wethington, 63, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at the Kentuckiana Medical Center in Clarksville, IN. He was born on September 25, 1950 in Daviess Co., KY to the late James V. and Mayme Welsh Wethington. Larry was a retired Captain of Detectives with the Owensboro Police Department and was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. At one time, he had been a practicing Catholic, but was currently a member of First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Daviess Co. Fish and Game and enjoyed hunting and fishing, was a Chicago Bears fan, and especially loved spending time with his grandsons and his dog Tuff. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, William C. Pointer in 2006.

Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Sonja Wethington, a son, Jarrod Roberts of Owensboro, a daughter, Kendal and husband Nathan Maxwell of Hawesville, two grandsons, Nolan and Parker Maxwell of Hawesville, a sister, Doris and husband Doug Williams of Owensboro, three brothers, Wayne and wife Nancy Wethington of Owensboro, Don Wethington of Falls of Rough, and Doug Wethington of Venice, Florida, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 30 at Christ Chapel in Owensboro Memorial Gardens with burial there following the service.Honors will be rendered by the Owensboro Police Department Honor Guard.
