James W. Vestal

James Watson Vestal, 82, of Frankfort, formerly of Owensboro, passed away Friday, February 25, 2005, at Frankfort Regional Medical System. Born in Warren, Arkansas to Rev. William Richard and Ibra Vestal, he served in the 3196 Signal Corps during the European Campaign in World War II, before graduating from the University of Arkansas. He retired from Texas Gas Transmission Corporation after 33 years. He was an original member of the Four Flames barber shop quartet and sang with the Owensboro Choral Arts Guild. He was a charter member of the Go-Getters Sunday school Class, which he taught for 26 years at First Baptist Church, Owensboro. He also served as the Churchs moderator, Chairman of Deacons, finance committee chairman and was a member of the choir. His wife of 57 years, Marjorie Eastham Vestal, and a brother Franklin G. Vestal preceded him in death.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jim Wood of Frankfort; a son, James William Vestal; a brother, Richard Vestal of North Little Rock, Arkansas, four grandchildren, Jami (Brian) Cooper, Melissa (David) Mills, Sam Williams, and Elizabeth Wood; and three great grandchildren, Will Cooper, Wesley Cooper, and Sydney Mills.

Visitation will be from 2 4:00 P.M. Sunday afternoon at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro.. There will be no visitation on
Monday, prior to the service. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 28, at Third Baptist Church.
