James C. Turner, 70, of Owensboro, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at 4839 Millers Mill Rd., Owensboro. He was born on February 23, 1938 to Lucian and Louise Carden Turner. He was a devoted member and trustee of Macedonia Baptist Church which he loved very much. He was retired from Peabody Coal Co, after over 40 years where he was Vice-President of Engineering. He had attended the University of Kentucky and enjoyed playing golf and traveling. He was preceded in death by his father, Lucian Turner.
Surviving are his wife, Linda D. Turner, daughters, Melody Neel and husband Gary of Syracuse, UT, Monica Blocker and husband Todd of Los Altos, CA, Michele Cooper and fianc David Patton of Owensboro, and Sondra Turner of Owensboro, a stepdaughter, Stephanie Kasinger and husband Matt of Owensboro, a stepson, Rick Dalton and fianc Annie Gray of Owensboro, 11 grandchildren, and Jim was expecting his first great grandchild in March, his mother, Louise Turner of Owensboro, brothers, Lucian Turner and wife Lynn and David Turner and wife Suki, all of Owensboro, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 12 Noon Monday at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Dean officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Ohio Co., Ky. Visitation will be from 2:00-7:00 P.M. Sunday and after 9:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.
