James R. Tron

September 30, 1929 — December 2, 2011

James Robert Tron, 82, of Owensboro, passed away on December 2, 2011 at Hillcrest Nursing Home.
He was born and raised in New Harmony, Indiana where he graduated from high school in 1945. He later joined the U.S. Air Force and served in the Korean Conflict.
He retired from Indiana Bell Telephone Company. After retirement Jim volunteered at the front desk of OMHS for over 15 years. He was a member of the Owensboro Seventh Day Adventist Church, the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite in Evansville, IN, Telephone Pioneers of America and was a lifetime member of the Communication Workers of America. Jim enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. He was a great handyman and loved U.K. Basketball.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Phillip and Mildred Frances Tron and brothers, Victor P. Tron, Jr. and Michael E. Tron.

Jim is survived by his wife of 44 years, June (Alexander) Tron; daughter, Debra J. Finley (Jerry) of Whitesville, KY; son, Robert Michael Tron (Brenda) of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Charity Keener (Darrin), Joshua Merrill, Shauna Merrill, Ashley Cowan (Charlie Cain) and Breanna Tron; 7 great grandchildren; brothers, David Harold Tron (Rhonda) of Crossville, IL and John Earl Tron (Veda) of New Harmony, IN; sisters, Norma Lee Ashlin (Bill) of Port Charlotte, FL and Sophia Marie Roby of New Harmony, IN; sister-in-laws, Rosemary Tron of Evansville, IN and Dorothy Tron of Bossier City, LA and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Glenn Funeral Home. Pastor Mike Foraker will officiate. Entombment will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday and Tuesday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Owensboro Seventh Day Adventist Church.
