James Clyde Smith

James Clyde "Smitty" Smith, Jr., 58, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on January 9, 1955 in Jefferson Co., KY to the late James Clyde and Myrtle Westmoreland Smith. He had been a roofer with the United Union of Roofers Local #147. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Linda Diane Borders on December 14, 2011.

Surviving are two sisters, Shirley LaMotte of Owensboro and Marla (Dane) Schaftlein of Taylorsville, two half-brothers, James Melton of Louisville and Hobert (Kriss) Melton of Phoenix, AZ, and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation or services. Family and friends are invited for a gathering and celebration of Smitty's life on Saturday, June 8 from 4-9 P.M. at the home of his sister Shirley LaMotte at 746 Canterbury Rd
