James Eugene Shultz

James Eugene Shultz, 83, of Owensboro, passed away at home on Jan. 18, 2025. He was born February 14, 1941, in Rockport, KY to the late Willie B. and Cleo Durham Shultz. James was a baker at Colonial Bakery, where he retired. He and his wife, Deloris, who preceded him in death, were the founding owners of Deloris’s Café. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing, hunting, telling jokes, and had a special love for his dogs. James was also preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Bunch.

He is survived by his children, Carla (Ben) Creamer, Roxanne Sparks, Joe (Susan) Shultz, Ray (Shelley) Shultz, Michael (Jennifer) Simmons; eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be 12 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Nickle Ridge Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Owensboro Humane Society, or Daviess County Animal Shelter.
