James H. Sauer

James H. Sauer, 95, of 730 Devonshire Drive, Owensboro, died Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at Episcopal Church Home in Louisville. He was born in Daviess County, Kentucky on May 16, 1907 the son of Henry and Jessie Worthington Sauer.

Mr. Sauer retired from the U. S. Army after 22 years where he served with the 33rd Infantry in the Panama Canal Zone, and the 77th Field Artillery & Field Artillery School at Ft. Sill, OK. He also served with the 20th Armor Division in E. T. O. and two years with Alaskan Command on Adak Island, Alaska. He retired as Post Transportation Office, Erie Ordnance Depot, LaCarn, Ohio on Feb. 28, 1950. He was a member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, Woodlawn United Methodist Mens Club & Woodlawn Senior Citizens.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Annie Frances Sauer; one son, Bruce Sauer of Prospect, KY; two grandchildren, Lindsay Anne Sauer and David James Sauer of Prospect, KY and one niece.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2002 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery with full Military Honors. His family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2002 and after 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
