James Coleman Saalwaechter

December 10, 1926 — January 28, 2007

James Coleman J.C. Saalwaechter, 80, of Owensboro died Sunday, January 28 at Owensboro Medical Health System. Mr. Saalwaechter was born in Daviess County, a son of the late Henry Carl and Beulah Hundley Saalwaechter. He retired from Atmos Energy, where he had worked for 39 years, being responsible for maintaining line pressure and assuring that everyone was well served. Mr. Saalwaechter was very active in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, as an ordained elder and Sunday school teacher, and was a member of Owensboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church. J.C. was independent, competitive, and a prankster. Taking up golf after his retirement, he scored two holes-in-one. A veteran of the United State Army, he was with the occupation forces in Germany following World War II. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Laura Henrietta Quinn, Mary Catherine Saalwaechter, Margaret Beaty, and five brothers, Paul Saalwaechter, Charles Saalwaechter, John Saalwaechter, Sam Saalwaechter & J.W. Saalwaechter.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Catherine Kincaid Saalwaechter; his son Carl Saalwaechter and his wife Jean, of Owensboro; his grandson Adam Saalwaechter of Owensboro; and his brothers, Arthur Saalwaechter, Joseph Saalwaechter, and Kenneth Saalwaechter, all of Daviess County.

Services, officiated by Rev. Timothy McGuire, are at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
