James Lawrence Rogers

James Lawrence Rogers, 89, of 21-C Quail Ridge Court, Owensboro, died Wednesday, February 22, 2006. The Chicago native was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and Cursillo. He retired from General Electric Company, Appliance Contract Sales Division, in 1982, after 34 years of service. He was an Army veteran of World War II, in the Signal Corps intelligence. He was preceded in death by a son, James George Rogers, in 1957, a daughter, Mary Frances Rogers, in 1986, and his lovely wife of 591/2 years, Jean Frances Rogers, who died in 2001 and whom he dearly loved.

He was a current member of the Board of Directors of Hospice & Palliative Care of the Ohio Valley, Inc. and at the time of his death, was the lead volunteer for their Butter Braids fund raising campaign for Daviess and Hancock Counties. He was also an active prayer warrior for children involved in MentorKids KY. He enjoyed sports of all kinds and was an avid Notre Dame and Chicago Cubs fan. He tried to attend Mass daily, loved to read, but most of all, he loved his family.

Survivors include daughters, Diane Abbinanti of Playa Vista, CA, Nancy Pelletier of Vista, CA, Jo Barron of Owensboro, Susan Tagmyer of Centennial, CO, Dorothy Kesling of La Porte, IN, and Toni Smith of Denver, CO; 22 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and six SUPER sons-in-law, Sam Abbinanti, Gaeten Pelletier, Bill Barron, Bob Tagmyer, Drew Kesling, and Paul Smith.

Funeral Mass will be 11 A.M. Monday, February 27, 2006 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Visitation will be Sunday, February 26, 2006 from 2-7 P.M. and 9- 10:30 A.M. Monday, February 27 at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at the funeral home at 7 P.M. Sunday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Hospice & Palliative Care of the Ohio Valley, Inc.(the angels who took care of his wife in her later stages of illness.)
