JAMES ALLEN KINCHELOE, LT. COL. USAF, RET.
JAMES (DOC) KINCHELOE died November 6, 2012 at Wellington Parc of Owensboro where he had been lovingly cared for during the last years of his life.
Col. Kincheloe was born July 27, 1923 in Daviess County to Dr. Allen L. and Antha Kincheloe.
Col. Kincheloe graduated from Owensboro High School, attended Centre College and graduated from the University of Kentucky. He retired from the Air Force after 27 years. He was a governmental affairs representative for Texas Gas Transmission until his retirement in 1988.
Colonel Kincheloe served our country in World War II as a fighter pilot, and in Korea and Vietnam as a military transport pilot. He was awarded the Bronze Star, 2 Air Medals, received the Golden Medal of Vasa from the Swedish Government for his part in commanding the unit delivering P-51 fighter aircraft to that country and many other commendations.
After retiring from his Air Force career, Doc returned to Owensboro and married Ann Murphy Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Murphy Kincheloe, a sister, Margaret (Mrs. Morton) Holbrook,) a son , Samuel A. Kincheloe of Pleasant Ridge, TN., 4 stepchildren, Dr. Buxton L. Johnson (Tina) of Owensboro, KY; Christopher D. Johnson of Rocklin, CA; Stephen M. Johnson (Kim) of Whitesville; Suzanne (Peter) Martinek of Centennial, CO, 11 step-grandchildren, 2 nephews Morton (Shau Pei) Holbrook, Allen (Forrest Roberts) Holbrook, 4 great nephews and 2 great nieces.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21 with visitation after 8:30 a.m. Following the service, entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with full military honors.
