James Raymond Rayburn, 86, of Owensboro, passed away on Friday, Nov. 10, 2006 at Hillcrest Healthcare Center. He was born in Carter Co., Ky. to the late Andrew J. & Athel Hamilton Rayburn. He was a retired teacher with the Job Corps. and also had been an owner-operator of a construction company. He was an over 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge in W. Logan, W. Va. and the Royal Order of Scotland, was a 32nd Degree Mason and in the York Rite, and also a member of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church. He was also preceded in death by his 1st wife, Era Rayburn and his 2nd wife Ragon Rayburn.
Surviving is his wife of 21 years, Helen Davis Rayburn, a daughter, Doris Jean Rayburn, and a son James Thomas Rayburn, both of Chapmanville, W. Va., a stepdaughter, Jean Iles ONeal of Owensboro, two grandchildren, 2 stepgrandchildren, and 2 step great grandchildren, two brothers, Lou Rayburn of Godby Branch, W. Va., and William Rayburn of W. Va., and two sisters, Betty Hicks of W. Logan, W. Va. and Mary Katherine Gibson of Port Charlotte, Fla.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 P.M. Monday and after 9:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. A masonic service will be held at 3:30 P.M. Monday.
