James Wall Ranson

December 26, 1939 — June 19, 2007

James ''Jim'' Wall Ranson, 67, of 3254 Buckland Square, Owensboro, died suddenly June 19, 2007 at his home. Born in Delaware in western Daviess County, he graduated from Owensboro High School where he lettered in basketball, football, and baseball, and attended Kentucky Wesleyan College. A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Jim worked for General Electric, owned and operated Jim's Hardware in Columbia, Kentucky, and returned to General Electric and continued with MPD where he was currently manager for scheduling and procurement. He was a long time member of St.John United Methodist Church, valued the time he could spend with his children and grandchildren, enjoyed working and doing for others, and loved the outdoors and playing golf. He was preceded in death by a step-son, Jason Livers.

Survivors include his wife, Dee Brown Ranson; his daughters, Sondra Jones of Owensboro, Stacy Hughbanks and her husband Dannis of Pee Wee Valley, and Jennifer Higgins and her husband Daniel of Beijing, China; his parents, Harford W. and Emma Bell Ranson of Owensboro; his step-children Crystal Livers and Kyle Reed, both of Owensboro; his grand-children, Emily Jones, Sarah Jones, Meredith Miles, Jackson Higgins, Emma Higgins, Luke Higgins and Will Higgins; and his sister and her husband, Sharon and Presley Sauer of Owensboro.

Services are at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at St.John United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Kenneth Spurrier. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be James Alan Sauer, John Andrew Sauer, Tom Milton, Gerald Wellman, Donnie Brown, Jim Lockhart and Tony Caine.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the memorial fund of St.John United Methodist Church.
