James Randall "Randy" Martin

James Randall “Randy” Martin, 86, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, September 24, 2026, under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of W. Kentucky with his family by his side. The Daviess County native was born July 28, 1940, as one of nine children to the late Thomas Eugene Martin and Laura Lee Lyons Martin. Randy graduated from Daviess County High School with the class of 1958. His early years were spent in carpentry work and on the farm. Randy joined the Army and was stationed in Germany where he met his future wife, Heidi Daniel. After his discharge, he began his career with the telephone company in 1965 as a cable splicer and retired from Bell South in 1997. After retirement, Randy returned to his roots and bought a farm in Breckinridge County and raised cattle and loved it! He spent almost every morning at his favorite restaurant, Ole South BBQ with his buddies. Randy grew up with a love of the outdoors, coon hunting, and raising vegetable gardens. He will be remembered as a cheerful, positive and hard-working man.

In addition to his parents, Randy also was preceded in death by three of his siblings.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 62 years, Heidi; son, Steve Martin (Cathy) of Owensboro; daughter, Lisa Marie Harrod (Kevin) of Albuquerque, NM; three grandsons, Daniel Benjamin Harrod, Andrew Jacob Harrod, and William Thomas Martin; five siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.

Honoring his request, there will be no public services for Randy at this time. Care by Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
