James "Jimmy" Powers

James "Jimmy" Powers, 72, of Owensboro died Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Mr. Powers was born September 3, 1945 in Daviess County to the late James "J.C." and Ada Whitten Powers. Jimmy worked as a furnace operator at Aleris and retired from there in 2007. He was a very talented man who could do many things (except caulk) and always had a project going. Jimmy loved NASCAR and cooking and was known for his exceptional tasting burgoo.

Mr. Powers was also preceded in death by his grandson Lil' Bill Griggs; brother, Eugene Powers and Eugene's wife, Shannon Powers.

Survivors include his wife or 54 years, Louise Powers; daughter, Keitha Boyer and husband Scott; son, Nick Powers and wife Jennifer all of Owensboro; granddaughter, Sarah Griggs; grandsons, Grant and Eli Powers; great granddaughter, Kyleigh Griggs; sister, Vivian Nall and husband Harold; numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2:00 pm Friday, August 31 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will also be Friday from 10:00 am till 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
