James "Jim" Posante, 84, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at Wellington Parc after a courageous struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born in Louisville on January 19, 1926, son of the late Phillip and Rebecca (Abrams) Posante. Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by brothers Jasper and David Posante, and sisters, Linda Peay, BeBe Kaelin, and Betty McGraw. He was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church.
Jim's character and work ethic rivaled none. Through hard work and selfless love he raised four children and instilled his values in them, but most of all, his life revolved around his beautiful "Parkie". Married for 59 years, Jim and Mary Parker Rudy Posante lived "through sickness and in health, til death do us part." He taught all of us what a loving husband should be as well as a good father.
Jim was a veteran of the Army Air Corps and proudly served his country during and following World War II. He retired from National Linen Service in 1993 after 50 years of devoted service. He was passionate about WW II aviation, and loved building vintage WW II model airplanes, flying, and the New York Yankees. He was an honorary Kentucky Colonel.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his daughters, Lynne Posante Beavers, Leslie Ann Posante Dunn, Julianne Posante O'Bryan (Craig); his son, James Rudy Posante; his beloved grandchildren, Jill Roby Childress, Jamie Roby, Megan Dunn, Casey Dunn Miller, Christopher Dunn, Brandyn Beavers, and Bailey Posante; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Isadore Posante and Marty Posante; sisters, Jane Posante Wallace, JoAnn Posante Knapp, and Patsy Posante Berry; numerous nieces and nephews; and Karen Frasier and Chris Dunn
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 15, 2010 at Immaculate Catholic Church with Father Tony Jones officiating, followed by burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by VFW Post 696 and the Ft Campbell Honor Guard.
