James Jim E. Porter, 88, of Owensboro, died Thursday, April 13, 2006, at Wellington Parc. He was born January 29, 1918 to the late James Arthur and Jessie Lanham Porter in Daviess County. He retired from Westinghouse Corporation after 32 years of service. He was a member of Owensboro Christian Church, Modern Woodman of the World and the Yellow Banks Camping Club. He enjoyed traveling out west and going camping.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Porter on August 31, 2002, and a brother, Bill Porter on December 5, 2004.
Survivors include his son, Phillip Dale Porter and his wife, Janice, of Webster, FL; his step-daughters, Linda Carrico and her husband, Jim, Marlys Johnston and her husband, Daniel , a step-son, Lendol Ferguson, all of Owensboro; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren; his sisters, Hazel Porter of Owensboro, Martha Pearce of Nashville, TN, and Rita Blakley of Chesterton, IN.
Services will be 1:00 PM Monday, at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 until 6:00 PM Sunday and after 10:00 AM Monday at the funeral home.
