James Kenneth Payne

James Kenneth Payne moved to his heavenly home on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 2:20 am at the beautiful Heartford House in Owensboro.
He was born on February 18, 1933 in Reynolds Station, Kentucky to the late Otha and Annie Payne. He was the youngest of seven children and the last survivor.
He graduated from Fordsville High School in 1953, than married his high school sweetheart Juanita Huff on July 4, 1953. He commented many times that the nation always celebrates their anniversary with fireworks and flag waving.
Ken served in the U.S. Army from 1953 - 1955 receiving an Honorable discharge with rank of Specialist 4. He was a lifelong member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He was retired from General Motors Corporation and a member of the UAW Local 977 in Marion, Indiana. He was a graduate of the GM School of Technology.
In 1975 he was ordained as deacon at the World Wide General Assembly by the laying on of hands of the Presbytery. He was admired by pastors all over the country as a model deacon and was urged by many to write a book on the behavior and responsibilities of a deacon
He was a member of the East Chattanooga Church of God. He assisted his wife, the Reverend Juanita Payne in her ministry all over the nation.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
Surviving are wife, Juanita Payne, son, Blake Payne (Teresa) of Sumiton, Jasper, Alabama, daughter Lori Michele Skinner (Phil) of Owensboro, grandchildren, Jason Payne (Morgan), Kenny Skinner (Cortney), Alesha Patterson (Matt), great grandchildren, Ally Patterson, Caylee Patterson, twins Zoey and Paige Skinner and Sophie Payne. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A time of worship and remembering will be conducted at the Fordsville Baptist Church Monday at 2:00 pm with viewing 1 hour before service. Officiating will be the Reverands Fred Smith, Wendell Moore, Mary Doeple and Jerry Ford.
Pallbearers serving will be: Jason Payne, Kenny Skinner, Dwight McCamish, Larry White, Michael Decker, and Kenny Wilkerson.
A time to meet with the family will be from 3:00 to 6:00 pm Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home, Owensboro. Burial will be in Fordsville cemetery.
Glenn Funeral Home of Owensboro and Geary Funeral Home of Fordsville are in charge of arrangements.
