James Edward (J.E.) Owens of Owensboro, died on October 27, 2014. He was born in Pineville, Kentucky on October 27, 1934 to the late Edward and Ethel Brown Owens. Most of his life was spent in Frankfort, Kentucky. James was a member of First Baptist Church in Corbin, Kentucky.
After graduating from Corbin High School in 1952, James attended the University of Kentucky and graduated with a major in accounting. He was president of Beta Alpha Psi Accounting Fraternity. During his college years he was a member and treasurer of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. Upon graduating from college in 1957, he became an Officer in the U.S. Air Force.
James spent the majority of his career serving Kentucky State Government through the Department of Parks.
Family and friends were very important to James. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Pulliam Owens.
Survivors include a son James Blake Owens; grandchildren, Blair Owens Hecker (Shane) and Blake Edward Owens, all of Frankfort, Kentucky. James is also survived by a companion of 22 years, Barbara Yeiser Moorman, and family.
Visitation will be held 4:00 - 7:00 PM (CST), Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro, Kentucky. A casual graveside service will be held, 2:00 PM (EST), Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Corinth Cemetery in Corbin, Kentucky.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Heartford House in Owensboro, or your local Hospice.
