James S. O''Bryan

July 9, 1926 — July 11, 2010

James S. "Jim" O'Bryan of Owensboro passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Hillcrest Healthcare Center, two days following his 84th birthday. Jim was born in Daviess County and retired from Kroger after 33 years of employment and was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral. He enjoyed yard work, country music, and working in his brother's workshop. Preceding him in death were his parents, Elmer O'Bryan and Annie Bowlds O'Bryan; his sisters and brothers, Carmel Thompson, J. C. O'Bryan, Vincent O'Bryan, Geraldine Thompson, and Joseph "Bud" O'Bryan; and his step-sister and brother, Mattie Sue Wathen and Elmo O'Bryan.

Surviving are his sisters, Elizabeth Hamilton of Whitesville and Elsie O'Bryan of Owensboro; his sisters-in-law, Pat O'Bryan Tucker of Owensboro and Evelyn O'Bryan of California; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and a special friend, Marcye Ferguson.

Services, officiated by Rev. Brandon Williams, are10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen Cathedral. Visitation at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory will be from to 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Carly Roby Medical Fund or Hospice of Western Kentucky.
