James V. Morris

James "Icky" Morris, 83, of 6171 Old State Road, Philpot, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in McLean Co., Ky. to the late Virgil and Minnie Tucker Morris. He was a member of Bethabara Baptist Church and was retired after 30 years as a tool and die maker with Ford Motor Co. He was a member of the Vienna Masonic Lodge #423 in Calhoun. He attended Western Ky. University and played basketball . He was an avid sports enthusiast enjoying basketball, golfing, bowling, pitching horseshoes, hunting, fishing, and camping. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillian Morris, his second wife, Mable Morris, and a stepdaughter, Connie Brown.

Surviving is his wife of 12 years, Gladys Knight Morris, a stepson, Herbie Wedding of Yelvington, three stepdaughters, Gayle Blumenberg and Pat Winstead (Mike) of Owensboro, and Priscilla Smith of Philpot, 11 step grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren, a sister, Dorothy Morris Maxwell and husband Billy D., Sr. of Owensboro, nieces and nephews, Billy D. Maxwell, Jr., Marilyn Maxwell Hamilton, Judith Maxwell, and Cathy Head, great nieces and nephews, James Devin Thompson, Evelyn Robinson, Stephanie Langguth, Andrew Head, and Monica Elledge, and several cousins including Stella Scott.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 13, at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Bethel Church Cemetery in McLean Co. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Monday with a Masonic service at 6:00 P.M, and after 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
