James Lynn Moorman, 75, of Utica, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. James was born in Owensboro to the late James Marion and Kathryn (Coots) Moorman. He graduated from Owensboro Poly Tech in 1956 and attended Kentucky Wesleyan College. James was a lifelong member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church, and retired after 45 years as a journeyman electrician with IBEW # 1701 where he traveled extensively to many states. He was a certified welder for nuclear power plants. He was a member of Masonic Temple # 130 A&FM where he was past Grand Master twice, former building superintendent and secretary. In 1976, he moved from Owensboro to a farm in Utica and loved working and living there. He was also an avid UK fan, a devout Democrat, and he loved to build, create, and fix things.
In addition to his parents, a sister, Kathryn Rone preceded him in death.
Surviving are his children, James L .Moorman Jr., of Columbia, SC, Bob Moorman of Owensboro, John Moorman of Utica, Kara (Rob) Moorman Nash of Owensboro, grandchildren, Caitlen , Eli, Emilie Moorman, Jacob Nash, Ty Moorman, and Ella Nash, a nephew, two nieces, and several cousins.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Settle Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. with Masonic Rites at 6:30 p.m. , and after 11 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
