James Leonard Mills

James Leonard Mills, 94, of Owensboro, formerly of 3854 South Hampton Rd., Philpot, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Bon Harbor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Masonville on Dec. 31, 1915 to the late Henry and Bertie Nance Mills. He was retired from the W. R. Grace Co. and had farmed for most of his life. He was a member of South Hampton Baptist Church where he was an ordained deacon for many years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and playing with all the great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and spending winters in Florida. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Sparks Mills on April 5, 2006 and his son, Robert L. "Bobby" Mills on August 9, 2000.

He is survived by his daughter, Doris Lambrich and son-in-law Jerry, his daughter-in-law, Judy Mills of Philpot, four grandchildren, Ronnie Lambrich of Radiant, VA, Sandra Burch of Fredericksburg, TX, Wesley Mills and Stephanie Gray, both of Philpot, 10 great grandchildren, Mitchell Shoup, Matthew Shoup, Lindsay Hawes, and Meredith Lambrich, all of Owensboro, Madison and Carlie Lambrich of Radiant, Katelyn Rusher, Alex Gray, and Halley and Jackson Mills, all of Philpot, three great great grandchildren, Jaklyn and Gannon Shoup and Myleigh Shoup, all of Owensboro, and a brother, Raymond Mills of Owensboro.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 8, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 P.M. Sunday and after 9:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Western Ky., 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, Ky. 42301 or to Sunrise Childrens Services, 2720 Frederica St., Owensboro, Ky. 42301.
