James F. "Jim" McCarroll, 67, of Owensboro, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born November 27, 1948 in St. Louis, MO. Jim was retired from Glenmore Distillaries as a Supervisor after 39 ½ years of service. He had been a member of Owensboro Christian Church for many years. Jim was also a member of the Ensor Masonic Lodge, was a Shriner and member of the Rizpah Temple and former member of the Owensboro Noon Lions Club. He was a Shrine clown and was known as "Nervis the Clown". Jim was an outstanding musician and was able to play many different instruments, the guitar being his favorite. He loved all types of music, especially Blues and was a lifetime member of the International Bluegrass Museum and a supporter of the Riverpark Center. He and a group of friends would get together once a week and play for the residents of the different nursing homes in the area. Jim enjoyed traveling with his wife having done some world traveling especially their trips to Florida to their condo. He would love to go down to the beach and always had a kite to fly and also enjoyed golfing and bicycling. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Dan B. and Edna O'Bryan McCarroll and an uncle, Clarence McCarroll.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Anita Bingham McCarroll and their daughter, Molly McCarroll of Arlington, VA.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 1, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 1:00-6:00 P.M. Sunday and 12:00-2:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
