James Otis Marret, 70, of Palm Coast, FL, formerly of Owensboro, went to be with his maker, Thursday, September 14, 2006 at his home. He was born June 6, 1936 to the late Otis and Margaret Tinius Marret in Daviess County. He retired from Field Packing Company after a sales career for over 40 years, was a member of First Baptist Church of Owensboro, where he was a faithful Deacon and Sunday School Teacher for many years. He was awarded the honor of being a Kentucky Colonel, and served in the United States Marine Corp.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Lilyan B. Whitaker in 2001.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Janice; his daughters, April Smith and her husband, Gary of Ormond Beach, FL, Melanie Belcher and her husband, Terry of Owensboro, Natalie Burton and her husband, Scott of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Aimee Roberts, Matthew and Brittany Belcher, Marret and Coty Burton; his brother, William Marret of Bowling Green, KY. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and a special friend to all who knew him.
Services will be 11:30 AM Monday at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:00 until 6:00 PM Sunday and after 9:30 AM Monday at the funeral home.
