James Alonzo Layson

James Jimmy Layson, 65, of Owensboro passed away Friday, June 30, 2006, in his home after battling cancer. He was born in Daviess County on May 31, 1941. He was a retired HVAC foreman for Ernie Davis & Sons and a member of Freewill Baptist Church in Cannelton, IN. Jimmy was a nature lover who enjoyed animals, bird watching and the ocean as well as traveling. He also enjoyed coaching soccer, baseball and basketball and was a UK basketball and NASCAR fan who dreamed of owning a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Conway Layson of Owensboro; a son, Heath Layson of Owensboro; a daughter, Melissa G. Layson of Owensboro; his brother, Carl Morgan also of Owensboro, and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation held on Saturday, July 8, 2006, at Glenn Funeral Home from 2 4 pm with a memorial service following at 4 pm with Rev. Lewis C. Garrett officiating. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Hospice Association of Owensboro.
