James Ray Key, 80 of 1200 East Byers Avenue, Owensboro, died Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at Owensboro Medical Health System. The Bowling Green native was born to the late Edward and Veda(Sanders) Key, was a retired car inspector for Conrail Railroad and was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church where he was a member of the Winsome Sunday School Class. He enjoyed woodcrafting and loved spending time with his family, including his dog, Kirby.
Mr. Key was an Army veteran of World War II, and Korea. He served during the German Occupation and there met his wife Elizabeth where they were married in 1948.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth H. Key, son David Key and wife Vicky of Owensboro, daughter Barbara Key, and fiancTim Waninger of Evansville; six grandchildren, Nathaniel and wife Erin of Bowling Green, and Anna, Andrew, Marcus, Terri, and Samantha, along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2007 at Glenn Funeral Home chapel with Rev. David Key officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Friday.
