James D. Kessinger, Sr., 50, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Owensboro to the late William H., Sr. and Barbara E. (Tindle) Kessenger.
James was a member of Journey Fellowship Church and had previously worked as a supervisor at Alcoa Wheel and Rim. Prior to Alcoa, James and his brothers owned and operated Midnight Renovations construction company. James was a "Jack of All Trades" and especially enjoyed working on cars and electronics. He was also an avid Louisville Cardinals fan, who enjoyed fishing and music. His favorite pastime was spending time with his children and grandchildren. James was a very helpful and generous person.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Marie Kessinger; and two brothers, William H. Jr. and Howard L. Kessenger.
He is survived by his sons, James D., Jr. and Anthony Kessinger; a stepdaughter, Tabitha L. Taylor; four grandchildren, all of Owensboro; brothers, Rick (Samantha), Wayne (Linda), Ernie, Frankie, all of Owensboro, Rocky (Ruby) of North Carolina, Leon and Johnny Kessenger both of Florida; sisters, Diane (Kelly) Keown, Linda Shouse, and Sophia Aubrey, all of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM Tuesday, March 12 at Journey Fellowship. (18th and Alexander Streets) Dr. Robert Coons will officiate.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to the James D Kessinger Sr. Family.
