James "Jim" Clark Day

James “Jim” Clark Day, 88, a respected Owensboro businessman and devoted family man, passed away peacefully Monday, January 26, 2026 under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Claud Mendel and Beatrice McPherson Day and grew up on a farm in Muhlenberg County. Jim was a U. S. Air Force Veteran and met his late wife, a native of Germany, while stationed there.

He was a long-time and active member of Owensboro First General Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a deacon and Sunday School teacher and shared his faith. Jim and his wife, Hilde, participated in multiple mission trips to Honduras and were involved in the development of an orphanage. He served as an assistant scoutmaster, Gideon and volunteer at Wendell Foster. His commitment to the community reflected his deep values of integrity, kindness, and spiritual guidance.

Jim built a distinguished career in the manufacturing and tool and die industry. His different roles culminated in serving as President of Premium Allied Tool in Owensboro, a company he helped establish in 1966. Under his technical leadership, Premium Allied Tool grew into a global player in precision metal stamping, later evolving into Hines Precision Inc. He retired in 2004. His expertise, vision, dedication to quality and willingness to train left a lasting impact on the local manufacturing community.

Beyond his professional achievements, Jim was deeply committed to his family. He took great pride in mentoring his two sons, Claud F. Day and James M. (Mike) Day, guiding them as they founded and built ADM Industries, Inc., a successful contract manufacturing firm specializing in metal stampings, machining, and related services in Owensboro. His support and business acumen were instrumental in helping Claud and Mike launch and grow their enterprise.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mathilde "Hilde" Museler Day in 2019; an infant son, Timothy Daniel Day; and brothers, Charles Douglas Day and Jesse Day.

Mr. Day is survived by sons, Claud Franz Day (Leah Spurrier Day) and James Michael “Mike”Day, both of Owensboro; grandsons, Dexter Day (Cheryl), Austin Day (Kelsey Lynn), and Matthew Day (Kelsey); great-grandchildren, Lucy, Clark and Nathaniel Day (who referred to him as "Opa"); sisters, Betty Woodlee, Claudia Smith and Bessie Hardison; brothers, Rev. Richard Day and Tommy Day; and many nieces and nephews.

A man of integrity, hard work, quiet strength, and unwavering faith, Jim will be remembered for his love of family, service to the church, contributions to industry, and the legacy he built in the Owensboro community.
