James Paul Higdon

June 30, 1927 — February 4, 2014

James Paul Higdon, 86, passed away on Tuesday February 4, 2014 at Wellington Parc. Paul was born on June 30, 1927 to the late Wilber and Mary Ruth Higdon. He was most recently the co-owner of Higdon Trucking Company. Other occupations include a Mechanic at K&W Equipment, employee at Medley Distillery and a farmer. Paul had several hobbies. He raised beagles, collected antique cars and loved to travel. He was a member of the Classic Auto Club, American Kennel Club and Daviess County Lions Club.

Paul was preceeded in death by a sister, Marcelline Hagan, brother, Dennis Higdon, grandson, Francis Wayne Coomes and granddaughter, Bridgett Renee Coomes.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Nadine Higdon; Daughters, Regina Coomes and Jacinta Smith; Sons, Robert Higdon (Diane), Carl Higdon (Nadine), Byron Higdon (Delilah); Stepsons, Clayton Johnson Jr., Kenneth Johnson (Rhonda); Stepdaughter, Karen Johnson; Brother, H.C. Higdon; Sister, Margaret Ratliff and Sister In-law, Mary L. Higdon; 17 Grandchildren and 28 Great-Grandchildren.

Services will be Noon, Friday, February 7, 2014 at St. Stephens Cathedral. Visitation will be 2:00pm - 8:00pm Thursday and Friday after 10:00am at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Prayers will be Thursday at 6:00pm. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Paul's name to The Alzheimer's Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
