James Arthur Heifner

April 6, 1933 — January 6, 2015

James Arthur Heifner, 81, of Owensboro, died Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Daviess County to the late William A. and Eva Mae Heifner.

Mr. Heifner was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He retired from Aleris Aluminum (Commonwealth). He and his wife, Betty, spent many years of their retirement living at Lake Barkley and later in Lake Placid, Florida before returning to Owensboro in recent years. James enjoyed fishing and was an avid sports fan, especially of U.K. Basketball.

James was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Betty Lee Heifner in 2013 and a brother, Leonard Earl Heifner.

He is survived by sons, Allen Heifner (Brenda) of Owensboro and Rick Heifner (Shelia) of Georgetown, KY; grandchildren, Jonathan Heifner of Hermitage, TN, Ricky Heifner of Evansville, IN, Amanda Daniels (Matt) of Louisville, KY and April Heifner of Georgetown, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 12 Noon Friday, January 9 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Chaplain Linda Haddix will officiate. Burial will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 PM and after 10 AM on Friday at the funeral home.
