James Daniel “Danny” Haynes Jr., 83, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday August 21, 2024, at the Heartford House while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. He was born October 15, 1940, in Daviess County, to the late James Sr. and Edith Wooton Haynes. Danny served in the United States Army and was retired from Commonwealth Aluminum. He enjoyed riding the city bus for transportation, and he also loved going to Goodwill and garage sales. If you knew Danny personally, he would want you to know that he is “finer than a frog’s hair, split three ways.”
Along with his parents, he is also preceded in death by two sisters, Agnes Ann Haynes and Patsy Oelze; and three brothers, Frankie Haynes, Kenneth Haynes, and Johnnie Haynes; and a daughter-in-law, Nikki Haynes.
Danny is survived by a daughter, Tammy (Dave) Hickey; two sons, Jeff (Rebecca) Haynes and Steven Haynes; eight grandchildren, Shelby (Jacob) Roberts, Zach Hickey, James Haynes, Savannah Haynes, Kathryn Haynes, Joshua Brown, Emily Haynes, and Noah Haynes; two great-grandchildren, Ellie Roberts and Ava Roberts; two sisters, Carol ( David) Oelze and Ida May (Gary) Howard; six brothers, Bill (Donna) Haynes, Larry (Debbie) Haynes, Mike Haynes, Roger (Linda) Haynes, Tommy Haynes, and Leon Haynes; also, a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral Mass for Danny will be 10 a.m. Monday, August 26, 2024, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and after 9 a.m. Monday at the church. The burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery.
