James “Glenn” Abell, 68, of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at University of Louisville Hospital. He was born December 5, 1957, in Owensboro, to the late James and Mary Jo (Severs) Abell.
“Scoop”, as he was known to his coworkers, worked for the Kentucky State Highway Department of Transportation for most of his adult life, and was still working after 47 years on the job. In his leisure time, Glenn enjoyed watching westerns and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved taking them fishing, watching movies, going on motorcycle rides, and watching them play sports. He loved his daughters and time spent with family; it was well known that they could call him for anything.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Becky Abell.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 47 years, Laquita Abell; daughters, Megan (James) Fenwick, and Amber Abell; grandchildren, J.J. Fenwick, Micheal Fenwick, Aiden Fenwick, Braxton Fenwick, and Nalani Payne; sisters, Debbie Embry and Patty Hines, and many nieces and nephews.
Care by Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
