James L. Gerteisen

April 12, 1934 — May 15, 2002

James L. Gerteisen, 68, of 1209 Girvin Ct., Owenbsoro, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002 at his home. The Daviess County native was a retired chef and restaurant manager. He was a member of SS Joseph and Paul Catholic Church, enjoyed NASCAR racing, UK basketball, collecting diecast cars, spending time with his family, was a KY colonel, and veteran of the US Navy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Joanne Gerteisen in 2001.

He is survived by two step-sons, Bobby Bastin of Owensboro and Brian Bastin of Springville, UT; a step-daughter, Suzan Bastin of St Louis, MO; four step-grandchildren; three brothers, Jack Gerteisen of Anchorage, AK, Donnie Gerteisen of Tallahassee, FL, and Tony Gerteisen of Maceo; two sisters, Mary Jo Rusher and Suellen McKay of Maceo; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 10:30 A.M. Friday at the Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Friends may call at the Glenn Funeal Home from 2-8 P.M. on Thursday and after 9 A.M. on Firday. Prayers will be said at 7:30 P.M. on Thursday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice.
