James Martin "Jimmy" Farmer, 72, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday June 23, 2012 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born on September 7, 1939 in Daviess Co., KY to the late Lloyd and Ola Kirk Farmer. He was retired from the Whirlpool Corporation and was a U. S. Army veteran. Jimmy was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 696, enjoyed dancing, being outdoors, and spending time with his friends and family, especially going to the park with his great grandson, Jameson. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Mary Dorothy Wink Farmer on December 14, 2008, three brothers, Lloyd D. Farmer, Roy Glenward Farmer, and Earl Farmer, and two sisters, Juanita "Jean" Farmer Bivens and Maxine Farmer Hagan.
Surviving are his daughter, Rebecca (Blake) Lasher of Owensboro, two grandchildren, Mary Michelle (Trent) Walker of Owensboro and Derek Wayne Collignon of Owensboro, two great grandchildren, Jameson and Katie Rose, his loving friend, Ruth Lowe of Owensboro, a brother, Lowell Allen (Jessica) Farmer of Texas, and a sister, Mary Ann (Joe) Frost of Idaho.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 27, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Rosehill Cemetery. Military honors will be provided at the cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
