James Darrell "J.D." Farmer, 77, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday August 29th 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Fordsville KY and graduated from Fordsville High School in 1954. J.D. was a pipefitter with Local 633 until his retirement in 1995. An avid sportsman, J.D. spent as much time outdoors as he could. If he wasn't outside there was a good chance it was because he was watching his favorite basketball team, the Kentucky Wildcats, or a NASCAR race on TV. He was preceded in death by his parents; Irvan J. and Clara Kelley Farmer and his brother Irvan J. Farmer Jr.
Survivors include his loving wife Anna Kaye Farmer; his children Pamela Jo (Mike) Drury and James Ericson (Laura) Farmer; a grandson, Lee Michael Drury (Heather); two great grandchildren Kyla and Ethan Jaworski; and many other friends and extended family that loved him.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Hospice of Western Kentucky and Home Instead Caregivers.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday with dear friends Father Edward Bradley and Rev. Ann Sheffer officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 2 until 8 p.m. and after 12:00 noon Sunday. Burial will follow at Friendship Community Cemetery in Fordsville.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to The Daniel Patino Shelter, Hospice of Western Kentucky, or The Luke Woodward Memorial Fund.
